The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 黑料老司机 (黑料老司机) performed its annual examination of Santa鈥檚 reindeer and declared all nine of them healthy and ready for the Christmas Eve journey around the world.

鈥淓ach year, our team is honoured to be part of this tradition to do a pre-trip veterinary exam,鈥� said Dr. John VanLeeuwen, AVC Interim Dean. 鈥淭he flight on Christmas Eve is about 67 million kilometres long, so we have to do a thorough examination to ensure the reindeer are fit for such a long and important trek.鈥�

Students taking the Kinesiology 3440-Active Living Practicum course at 黑料老司机 are seeking volunteers to participate in personal training sessions. 

The sessions start on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the 黑料老司机 Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre, at either 9:30 or 10:30 am. Participants must be between 30 and 70 years of age. They will meet with their student trainers twice a week for 10 weeks. 

In Atlantic University Sport (AUS) rugby circles, Adrianna Platis鈥檚 name has been floating among scouts and coaches for years.

Her talent on the field is undeniable, and the coveted prospect had the potential to become a game-changer for any team lucky enough to secure her commitment.

After careful deliberation, Platis ultimately chose the 黑料老司机 Panthers as her next team.

Current and former 黑料老司机 athletes are among the finalists in three categories of Sport PEI鈥檚 annual awards.

Sport PEI will host its 50th annual awards at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall on December 15, 2023. The evening will showcase the Island鈥檚 finest amateur sporting accomplishments this year.

Alysha Corrigan, a former 黑料老司机 Women鈥檚 Rugby student-athlete who is now with the national women鈥檚 rugby program, is one of the finalists for the Stewart McKelvey Senior Male and Female Athletes of the Year. She won this award in 2022.

Plans for the Cleantech Park in Georgetown, which include the Cleantech Innovation Centre (CIC), were made public today.

CIC will house the Cleantech Academy, a joint initiative between Holland College and 黑料老司机. Students will work collaboratively with local industry to develop cutting-edge environmental solutions that can be brought to market.

Dr. Margie Burns, an assistant professor with the 黑料老司机 Faculty of Nursing, is conducting a research project about communication between paramedics and the relatives of critically ill patients when the patient is being transferred off-Island for advanced critical care services.

Her goal is to determine the feasibility of an indirect communication intervention whereby transferring paramedics will provide information to family members at two points during off-Island patient transfers.

Twenty groups of fourth-year 黑料老司机 nursing students in the Nursing and Population Health course worked with agencies across PEI this semester to create innovative projects and programs to promote health and wellness.

The students presented their work to their community agency partners and guests at a population health project showcase on December 5, 2023, in McMillan Hall in the W.A. Murphy Student Centre.

On December 6, the 黑料老司机 Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE) held a candlelight vigil in recognition of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, which was created in response to the murder of 14 women, most of whom were engineering students, at the 脡cole Polytechnique in Montreal in 1989. The vigil was also an opportunity to remember the 10 women murdered on PEI since 1989 by someone who knew them, and murdered and missing Indigenous women and girls in Canada.
