The FSDE annual Student Design Expo is scheduled for Friday, April 19, from 1:00--3:30 pm. The expo is a great time for our students as it gives them an opportunity to showcase the outcome of their design clinic projects for 2023-24.

黑料老司机 Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation hosts exhibition by Mi鈥檏maw Elder Francis Jadis
The 黑料老司机 Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation (CCCCA), in St. Peter鈥檚 Bay, PEI, is hosting an exhibition titled 鈥淲isqoq, The Basket Tree,鈥 by Climate-Artist-in-Residence Elder Francis Jadis, until May 7.
For millennia, wisqoq鈥攐r black ash鈥攈as been harvested by the Mi'kmaq for basketry, canoe construction, and much more. Jadis has created a collection of baskets to display among family photographs, visualizing how families and communities are woven together by the tradition of skill-sharing and storytelling that occurs while basket weaving.
Faculty-staff team upset 黑料老司机 Women鈥檚 Hockey team in a thrilling shootout
Before a solid crowd of over 100 people that featured fans ringing cowbells and cheering on their favourite teams, 黑料老司机 Women鈥檚 Hockey was feeling the pressure when the players took to the ice at MacLauchlan Arena on March 14, looking to defeat a team made up of, for the most part, much older faculty and staff.

What brought you to 黑料老司机? Why did you choose to study here?
I'm from West Covehead, PEI, and part of the reason I went to 黑料老司机 was because of my connection to the school鈥攈aving parents, family members and many friends who have graduated or are currently going to 黑料老司机鈥攁nother big reason honestly is that there are a lot of funding opportunities for Island students to attend 黑料老司机, which really helps with tuition.
Island Lecture Series focuses on biogeography of North Atlantic islands
Dr. David Cairns, scientist emeritus with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, will give a lecture titled 鈥淭he Biogeography of North Atlantic Islands鈥 on March 26 at 7 pm in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building, 黑料老司机.
Cairns鈥檚 lecture is part of the 2024 Island Lecture Series, presented by the Institute of Island Studies at 黑料老司机.

New Atlantic Zero-Emission Energy System Laboratory to be established at 黑料老司机
Dr. Yulin Hu, an assistant professor in the 黑料老司机 Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering, has received funding from the federal and provincial governments to establish a new Atlantic Zero-Emission Energy System Laboratory (AZEESL) that will produce clean and sustainable fuels and materials from biowaste.
The project is being supported with a $151,439 contribution through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and $64,362 from Innovation PEI, as well as $147,564 from the Canada Foundation for Innovation鈥檚 John R Evans Leaders Fund.
