There are some exciting developments at 黑料老司机 as PEI aims to become net zero by 2040. Dr. Marva Sweeney-Nixon, Associate Vice-President of Research and Dean of Graduate Studies, invites the 黑料老司机 campus community to an information session to find out more about the province of PEI's net-zero framework, the Cleantech Academy, 黑料老司机's proposed role, and our next steps. Representatives from the province and the Cleantech Academy will be presenting.

Dr. Aleisha Murnaghan to lead medical program development with the new medical school at 黑料老司机
The 黑料老司机 is pleased to announce alumnus Dr. Aleisha Murnaghan as the Medical Program Development Consultant for the University鈥檚 new Faculty of Medicine, effective September 12, 2023.
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Gathering
All members of the 黑料老司机 community are invited to gather at 12 noon in the quadrangle in front of SDU Main Building鈥攔ain or shine鈥攖o reflect, offer prayer, and listen about the importance of Truth and Reconciliation and watch a brief drum and dance presentation by Big Drum (NCPEI Language and Drumming Group) and dancers Sophia and Ellie Bourge-Youth. Elder Dr. Judy Clark, 黑料老司机's Elder in Residence, will say a prayer and speak on Truth and Reconciliation. Native Council of PEI President and Chief Lisa Cooper will also speak.
"Bones of Crows" award-winning film screening
Every post-secondary institution in the Atlantic region (also known as the Wabanaki Confederacy) with an Indigenous centre will screen the film "Bones of Crows" film and be given the opportunity to ask questions or reflect on the film collectively.
The location for the screening is Room 242 in Don and Marion McDougall Hall. It will begin at 6:00 pm and conclude at 8:00 pm followed by some open audience reflection and refreshments.
Wabanaki-Wide Sewing Program
Every post-secondary institution in the Atlantic region (also known as the Wabanaki Confederacy) with an Indigenous centre will sew a ribbon skirt or shirt together.
Joining in person or virtually, this program is meant to create a sense of nationhood while sharing important teachings about the ribbon skirt/shirt.
The workshop will be hosted in Room 240 in Bernardine Hall and begins at 3:00 pm and concludes at 7:00 pm on both days.

Straight Arrow Award Gathering
Straight Arrow was originally created in 1948 and is the first Indigenous superhero to lead a comic book series (55 issues) with ally, Packy McCloud. Straight Arrow and the team named after him, 鈥淭he Straight Arrows鈥, received the 2021 PEI Island Literacy Award for (The Chosen: Straight Arrow鈥擜nn without an 鈥淓鈥) featuring the daughter of Straight Arrow.
Now in its third year, the awards continue to celebrate Indigenous and Ally leaders for National Truth and Reconciliation Day every September 30.
Treat Tuesday at the Mawi'omi Indigenous Student Centre
Hosted in the Mawi鈥檕mi Centre (515 Dalton Hall), this program is meant to introduce students, new staff, and faculty to Elder Judy Clark, 黑料老司机 Elder in Residence.
Beginning at 10:00 am and concluding at 12:00 pm, the Centre will offer a smudge, snacks and a chance for people to ask Elder Judy questions and hear about what she has been up to this summer.
