Student Assistant - Peer Mentor (Up to 2 Positions) - Department of Experiential Education - Student Experience Hub
$17.60 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay
September 2, 2025 – April 30, 2026
The Experiential Education Department is seeking applications for the position of Student Assistant-Peer mentor, who will work directly in supporting fellow ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú students and on various departmental projects. This position will be part-time during the 2025/2026 academic year with the possibility of an extension. The successful candidate will receive training and will be mentored by Career and Experiential Education professionals to ensure an exceptional experiential learning opportunity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary function of this role will be:
- Mentoring students on employment related skills, such as helping write resumes and cover letters, providing information to help support job search strategies, and help develop interview skills
- Answering inquiries and directing students to the appropriate resources
- Monitoring and responding to a role-based email account
Other projects will be assigned based on the skill set and area of study of the successful candidates. They could include:
- Developing content for social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
- Researching, writing & organizing career-related resources
- Promoting the services of the department to the campus community through organizing and delivering class visits and setting up information tables
- Supporting departmental event planning and execution
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a current ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú student
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- A customer-service orientation, a willingness to work one-to-one as a peer mentor and comfortable interacting with a diverse population
- The ability to be self-directed and accountable to complete assigned work with good time management
- Ability to work in both a team environment and independently
- Strong attention for detail and be driven by quality and creativity
- Dependable and reliable
- Well-developed interpersonal skills with an interest in working with and helping others
- Working knowledge and experience of social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram would be an asset
- Strong computer skills; experience with Microsoft Office, G Applications, and Canva would be an asset
Priority will be given to ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
