Student Assistant - Faculty of Indigenous Knowledge, Education, Research and Applied Studies
$21.20 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay
August 18, 2025 to December 5, 2025
We are seeking a student assistant to work with us to support the on-going development of a digital text that will be an Open Education Resource used by students and other interested stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Use a variety of software to modify and create digital content
- Convert text for use in Pressbooks
- Gather, review, and annotate published information (text/media) that could be useful for learners
- Create video recordings based on Indigenous Elder, Knowledge Keeper, scholar, and community members interviews on a variety of topics
- Attend and capture content at Indigenous events that can be incorporated into the text
- Able to work shifts during the day, evening, and weekends as scheduled
- Provide project support in consultation, committee and review meetings to elevate the status of the OER to meet publishing standards
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Enrolled as a full-time student at the 黑料老司机
- Excellent reading and revision of textual content skills
- Strong command of grammar, citation formats, and survey data
- Able to work independently on assigned projects with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
- Professional attitude and demeanor
- Experience using image, audio, and/or video editing software and where required, coding software to create professional web presence
Assets:
- Indigenous ancestry
- Knowledge of Indigenous protocols
- Completion of upper-level Indigenous courses
- Knowledge of local Indigenous communities and culture
- Interviewing skills
- Knowledge of the Pressbooks system ()
Priority will be given to 黑料老司机 students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
