One (1) Permanent full-time position as simulation coordinator.
The anticipated start date for this position would be September 1, 2025.
This position will report directly to the Dean of Nursing and will have a matrix reporting relationship with the Director of the Clinical Learning and Simulation Centre to lead and coordinate the integration and delivery of simulation-based education across programs.
This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.
About our Program:
The Faculty of Nursing at the ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú (ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú) offers the only undergraduate and graduate nursing programs in the province, playing a vital role in supporting local and national health systems by preparing nurse leaders grounded in the philosophy of Primary Health Care. Nursing is a dynamic profession that requires critical and reflective thinking informed by science and human experience. To meet the evolving needs of the health system, the Faculty is committed to embedding new ways of thinking and being into its curriculum and pedagogy — emphasizing inter-professional collaboration, diversity and inclusivity, and a deep respect for the Calls to Action of Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, including fostering reflection and action toward decolonization and Indigenization.
Simulation-based learning is a cornerstone of the Faculty’s curriculum, integrated alongside classroom instruction and clinical placements to prepare students for practice with competence and confidence. These immersive, carefully designed simulations reflect the complexity of real-world healthcare and help students strengthen clinical reasoning, technical skills, teamwork, and decision-making in a supportive environment.
At the heart of this approach is collaboration with ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú’s Clinical Learning and Simulation Centre (CLSC), a state-of-the-art, inter-professional hub where nursing students refine clinical judgment, hands-on procedures, and communication skills alongside learners from other health disciplines.
In this leadership role, the Simulation Coordinator plans, coordinates, and facilitates simulation experiences that align with current clinical practice and the Faculty of Nursing’s curriculum goals. They will also support other health disciplines in their simulation endeavors and contribute to simulation activities within the CLSC. Working closely with CLSC staff and faculty, the Coordinator designs and delivers scenarios that support both nursing and inter-professional learning objectives. They participate in team meetings and professional development to stay current with simulation technologies and best practices and provide feedback to continuously enhance the quality and impact of simulation activities.
The Simulation Coordinator also collaborates with internal and external stakeholders — including clinical partners, faculty committees, and other health disciplines — to ensure simulation remains responsive to changing healthcare needs and supports students in meeting entry-to-practice competencies. Through involvement in governance committees and curriculum planning, the Coordinator brings expertise in experiential education to help shape a cohesive, innovative curriculum rooted in Primary Health Care.
By strengthening the partnership between the Faculty of Nursing and the CLSC and advancing evidence-informed approaches to simulation-based education, the Simulation Coordinator helps prepare graduates who are reflective, skilled, and ready to meet the complexities of modern healthcare practice.
