Patients as people first, 3D-printed spinal surgical drill guides, ant-inspired robots, PEI’s retention of international graduates, and patient-reported experience measures for IBD were the focus of complex thesis research presentations delivered in three minutes or less by ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú graduate students to a riveted audience on April 25.

The ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE) showcased the best in sustainable design engineering projects by its students at the annual Student Design Expo on Friday, April 28, 2023.

Teilhard de Chardin: A Book of Hours, co-edited by Dr. Libby Osgood, CND, assistant professor in the ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering, and Dr. Kathleen Deignan, CND, Iona College, New York, will be launched on Wednesday, May 17, at 7:00 pm at the Charlottetown Library Rotary Room. 

The ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú is beginning the search for the next President and Vice-Chancellor to lead the university and strengthen the high-quality post-secondary educational experience for which ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú is known.

Dr. Larry Hammell, professor of health management, Atlantic Veterinary College at ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú, is the recipient of the College’s 2022 Atlantic Award of Excellence in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Care.

Four poems from Dr. Laurie Brinklow’s PEI Book Award-winning poetry book, My island’s the house I sleep in at night (Island Studies Press/Walleah Press), have been set to music by Don Kay, one of Tasmania’s best-loved composers.

The ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú will hold Convocation during four ceremonies scheduled for May 16 to 19. Over 1,100 graduates comprise the Class of 2023. 

On Thursday, May 11, six student teams will pitch their business for a share of $56,000 in prize money during the Panther Pitch Competition. The event, which is open to the public, will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Don and Marion McDougall Hall, Room 242.

The ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú Men’s Hockey Panthers are thrilled to welcome PEI native and former captain of the Charlottetown Islanders, Keiran Gallant, to their team for the 2023–24 season.

Dr. Greg Naterer, Vice-President Academic and Research at the ºÚÁÏÀÏ˾»ú, received the K.Y. Lo Medal for significant engineering contributions at the international level from the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC) on Friday, April 21, 2023, in Gatineau, Quebec.
