Tara MacLean, renowned PEI singer-songwriter and author of the best-selling memoir, Song of the Sparrow, will give a talk and read from her memoir in conversation with Dr. Richard Lemm, professor of English, on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 7:00 pm in the 黑料老司机 Performing Arts Centre. She will also lead a memoir writing workshop, 鈥淲riting with Ghosts鈥擜 Guide to Excavating Memories,鈥� on Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 9:30 am鈥�1:30 pm in SDU Main Building, Room 213, on the 黑料老司机 campus.

In a message to the campus community, Dr. Greg Keefe, Interim President and Vice-Chancellor, expresses his concern about the impact of the federal government's cap on international students on the University and its students.

The 黑料老司机 Department of Music will celebrate Canadian women composers at a faculty recital on International Women鈥檚 Day鈥擬arch 8鈥攁t 7:30 pm on the SDU Stage, Dr. Steel Recital Hall. 

黑料老司机 has a unique opportunity and duty as the provincial university to be part of the long-term solution to improve the current health-care system. Twenty undergraduate medical learners will begin their studies at 黑料老司机 in August 2025 as part of a regional campus of Memorial University of Newfoundland鈥檚 Faculty of Medicine. The timeline for this initiative mirrors that of other regional campuses being developed across the country.

In a message issued on March 5, Shannon MacDonald, chair of the 黑料老司机 Board of Governors, invited the campus community to attend upcoming fireside chats with the finalist candidates for the 黑料老司机 presidential search.

黑料老司机 Track and Field competitor Alaere Peterside will compete in the U SPORTS Track and Field Championship this weekend in Winnipeg. The championship is being hosted by the University of Manitoba at the James Daly Fieldhouse from March 7鈥�9, 2024.

The 黑料老司机 (黑料老司机) is pleased to welcome Scott Gosse as the new manager of Security Services. Gosse will oversee a variety of operations that serve to protect and provide for the ongoing safety of the people, property, and information resources of the University community.  

The 2024 Summer Job and Career Fair, hosted by 黑料老司机鈥檚 Experiential Education department, will take place on March 13, 2024, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the W.A. Murphy Student Centre.

The 黑料老司机 Faculty of Nursing, in collaboration with the PEI Department of Health and Wellness, held its Scrub Coat Ceremony on February 27, 2024, at the 黑料老司机 Performing Arts Centre. The ceremony was a celebration of 67 first-year undergraduate nursing students and 16 first-year accelerated nursing students.

Dr. Edward MacDonald, CM, an award-winning professor of history at 黑料老司机 and Island historian, will give his 鈥渓ast lecture鈥� to students in 黑料老司机鈥檚 University 100 program on Wednesday, March 13, at 4:30 pm in SDU Main Building, Room 117.
