黑料老司机 Athletics and Recreation will host the eighth annual Shoot for the Cure fundraiser on Friday, February 6 with a series of activities leading up to, and during, the 黑料老司机 women鈥檚 basketball game starting at 6:00 pm versus the Acadia Axewomen. Shoot for the Cure is a fundraising initiative by the CIS Women鈥檚 Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) to raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) and other related charities. The campaign goal is $6,000. Staff and faculty can support the women鈥檚 basketball team by purchasing a Shoot for the Cure t-shirt ($12) at Panther Central or the 黑料老司机 Bookstore, a paper icon ($1) from Panther Central, or through the 鈥淕ofund鈥� donation page at: . Fundraising efforts at the women鈥檚 basketball game include a bake sale, 50/50, and 鈥渃huck a puck.鈥� In support of the 黑料老司机 women's basketball team, the 黑料老司机 hockey women will host their second annual "Pink at the Rink," tonight versus the UdeM Blue Eagles, at 7:00 pm.

The "黑料老司机 Students Make a Difference," Brown Bag Lunch Series session, featuring Jayoda Tennekone and Rhyanne Beatty, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, February 10 at 11:30 am in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building. Jayoda Tennekone's presentation is titled "Improving International Relations in Your Own Community: Learning From the Diverse People Around you," and will be followed by Rhyanne Beatty's presentation titled 鈥淗ow to make a difference through the study of languages.鈥� Light refreshments will be provided and a door prize will be given out to one lucky attendee!

A search committee for the Dean of Nursing has been established. Dr. Rosemary Herbert has expressed a willingness to extend her term as Dean for an additional three years, as per 黑料老司机 policy. Therefore, the Search Committee is charged with carrying out a review and making a recommendation regarding her reappointment. In order to carry out that review effectively, the Committee will be seeking input from members of the University community. In particular, we would like you to provide us with advice with respect to Dr. Herbert's reappointment in three main areas: (1) her leadership, (2) her strengths as a Dean, and (3) areas for possible improvement. "Desserts and a Difference," will be this year's keynote event for the 2015 International Development Week celebrations! Dr. Timothy Goddard will present this year鈥檚 keynote presentation, entitled 鈥淭he quest for Buen Vivir: For whom are we making a difference, and why?鈥� which will reflect on the idea of international development and examine some of the ways in which local communities can assume agency for their own future. The presentation will be followed by a dessert reception, featuring instrumental music from 黑料老司机 International student, Jacob Liu, and a door prize draw! The 黑料老司机 Charity Club invites the campus community to the showing of 鈥淩yan鈥檚 Well鈥� on Wednesday, February 4 from 2:00鈥�3:30 pm in K.C. Irving Chemistry Centre, room 104, in celebration of 黑料老司机's International Development Week. "Ryan's Well" is an inspirational story about a boy who was determined to make a difference in the lives of the people living Angolo, Uganda. Through Ryan Hreljac鈥檚 fundraising efforts, thousands of dollars were raised to build a well for the village. This documentary follows Ryan鈥檚 story from his first conversations with his Ugandan pen pal to the day he visited Angoloand saw the well for the first time. Refreshments will be provided! All are welcome to attend.

Dr. Anja Vogt, National Research Council Charlottetown, will present a seminar on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 12:30 pm. Dr. Vogt鈥檚 presentation is entitled 鈥淎nalysis of Natural Products: from the Mountains to the Oceans". The seminar will be held in the Regis and Joan Duffy Research Centre, Lecture Theatre, Room 212.

"Could 'Infusing' University Writing with Narrative Medicine Practices Promote Public Health?" Dr. Wendy Shilton Wednesday, February 11, 2015, 7 pm Main Building Faculty Lounge, 黑料老司机 This talk explores the burgeoning multi-disciplinary field of Narrative Medicine (NM) and asks whether it could be effectively applied in university writing courses to strengthen public health benefits. Among the topics examined are the origins of NM within the medical humanities; what is meant by 鈥渘arrative鈥� in NM; how NM connects the Arts, Humanities, and Sciences; and, ultimately, what NM has to do with undergraduate critical literacy practices that potentially could be integrated across the curriculum to promote greater quality and equality in health and health care for all.
