Faculty, sessionals, graduate students, and staff are welcome at this in-depth exploration of the role and application of digital technologies in teaching. 黑料老司机 is also invited to engage in the event via the #digped hashtag and the public keynote by celebrated edtech writer and critic , 3pm July 13 in McDougall Hall.
#DigPed participants choose between one of two tracks - Networks and Digital Literacies - and work collaboratively in small workshop-style classes. The learning community that participants create together will give educators hands-on experience with key digital tools AND concepts to engage in successful, sustained innovative practice.

The Atlantic Veterinary College at 黑料老司机 will celebrate the achievements of its graduate students and researchers at its 24th annual Graduate Studies and Research Days (GS&R Days) event on Thursday, May 12, and Friday, May 13, in Lecture Theatre A. During the celebration, 20 graduate students and six post-doctoral fellows at AVC will present their research findings. New students will present their research plans. Their presentations cover research topics ranging from terrestrial and aquatic animal health to environmental health and biomedical sciences.
GS&R Days will open on Thursday at 9 a.m., with welcoming remarks from 黑料老司机 President and Vice-Chancellor Alaa Abd-El-Aziz, Minister of Workforce and Advanced Learning Richard Brown, and AVC Dean Greg Keefe. Immediately following the opening remarks will be the annual R.G. Thomson Lecture, an endowed lecture honouring AVC鈥檚 founding dean, Dr. Reginald Thomson. This year鈥檚 R.G. Thomson lecturer, Dr. Dorothee Bienzle will present 鈥淩esearcher, clinician and teacher: How best to move the veterinary profession forward.鈥 Dr. Bienzle is an internationally recognized professor of pathobiology, Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph.
On Friday, May 13, at 9 a.m., Dr. J Trenton McClure, professor of large animal medicine at AVC, will be presented with the 2016 Zoetis Research Excellence Award. He will give a presentation called 鈥淪o many interests, too little time: A veterinary clinician鈥檚 experience in research.鈥
AVC鈥檚 GS&R Days will conclude on Friday with an awards presentation in The McCain Foundation Learning Commons, starting at 12:45 p.m.
All are invited to attend this celebration of AVC鈥檚 graduate studies and research program.

Effective Thursday, May 12, 2016, 黑料老司机 will be changing its campus phone system service provider from Bell Aliant to Eastlink.
In preparation for the change, upgrades to campus phone equipment will take place on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. An outage is scheduled to commence between 6 - 7 pm and last for approximately 30 minutes. All inbound and outbound phone services on campus will be nonfunctional during this time.
In order to facilitate the service provider transition, phone service may also be disrupted on Thursday May 12, 2016 between 6 - 8 pm for approximately one hour. All inbound and outbound phone services on campus will be nonfunctional during this time.
Although the service provider is changing, the end user will not see any changes to the services they currently have, including phone numbers and voice mail.

AVC - The McCain Foundation Learning Commons Rm 287N
This will be a 3 hour training session with handouts, based on CCAC Recommended Syllabus (exam included).
The Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) requires that all personnel involved with the use of animals in research, teaching, testing and service take this course. (A refresher course is required every 5 years.)

Student Affairs and Counselling Services will be offering Bystander Intervention Training this summer. Bringing in the Bystander uses a community of responsibility model to teach bystanders how to intervene safely and effectively in cases where sexual assault may be occurring or where there may be risk. Its main message is that 鈥淓veryone in the community has a role to play in ending sexual violence.鈥 This prevention program emphasizes a bystander intervention approach and assumes that everyone has a role to play in ending violence against women.
To date 黑料老司机 has trained over 270 people!
The first session this summer will be taking place at the end of May, 2016.

The Institute will be held from the evening of July 19th till the evening of July 22nd. The venue is the Stanley Bridge Resort.
Registration for the workshop is $750.00, tax included. That fee covers all learning materials; all breakfasts and lunches plus two nutrition breaks a day; the Tuesday night reception; and the Friday night barbeque banquet. The fee can be paid by cheque or credit card. There will be an extra charge of $50.00 for each guest you bring to the banquet.

The Project Management Certificate is a 'new' 3-day training workshop offered through Professional Development at 黑料老司机. The course is ideal for new project managers and project teams looking for the tools to successfully manage any project. The course covers the complete project lifecycle from initiating, through project planning, execution and close out.

In recognition of the outstanding performance of our faculty and staff and their dedication to students and community, the annual Presidential Recognition Awards of Merit and 25 Year Service Awards will be presented at this event.

By ground - A person who handles (see definition below), offers for transport, or transports dangerous goods must: (a) be adequately trained and hold a training certificate; or (b) perform those activities in the presence and under the direct supervision of a person who is adequately trained and who holds a training certificate in accordance with the regulations.
Handling - is defined as loading, unloading, or packing dangerous goods...for the purposes of, in the course of, or following transportation. (Note: it has been clarified that you do not need to have training to unpack dangerous goods that has already been received by Shipping & Receiving. WHMIS/GHS training covers this aspect.)
By air - (IATA regulations): No person may offer or accept dangerous goods for air transport unless those goods are properly classified, documented, certified, packaged, marked, labeled, and in the condition for shipment required by the IATA regulations. Training is required to carry out these responsibilities.
Please note that there are also specialized courses for Infectious TDG training for Ground and Air which deals specifically with handling biological agents.
Training courses offered will depend on the needs across campus. It is expected that training will be provided by Atlas Compliance in May or June. 黑料老司机 Athletics & Recreation has some great NEW small group training programs starting in May. Small group training provides more personal attention to training, it's more economical, has variety, camaraderie, support and helps with motivation and adherence. It's helps YOU get results and most importantly it's FUN!!!

It's Convocation Week at 黑料老司机! 黑料老司机 employees are invited to attend the Convocation exercises on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre. The morning ceremony begins at 10:00 am; the afternoon ceremony begins at 2:30 pm. Each ceremony is preceded by a procession of graduates across campus.
Seating is limited due to safety regulations so if staff members would like an invitation, please contact Eileen Kinch at kinch@upei.ca.
All guests must present their invitations in order to be admitted to the Sports Centre. (Graduates can obtain up to five guest invitations at the Office of the Registrar from Monday, May 2 to Friday, May 6, 2016, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.)
Approximately 520 graduates will attend the morning ceremony, while approximately 420 graduates will attend the afternoon ceremony. 黑料老司机 will confer honorary Doctor of Laws degrees to three distinguished members of the healthcare field. Dr. Katherine L. Bick and Dr. William D. Stanish will receive honorary degrees in the morning, with Dr. Stanish delivering the Convocation Address. Mr. Ray Murphy will receive an honorary degree during the afternoon ceremony and will address graduates.
